MAA event gives insight into new technologies for the aero engine supply chain

The Midlands Aerospace Alliance (MAA) recently joined with the National Aerospace Technology Exploitation Programme (NATEP) and Rolls-Royce to deliver a day of speakers and networking with various stakeholders from the aerospace sector. This was hosted by Rolls-Royce at their Learning and Development Centre in Derby, and attracted a range of different companies and individuals all interested in finding out more about the NATEP projects.

NATEP is a £40million programme supported by £23m of Advanced Manufacturing Supply Chain Initiative funding. It supports aerospace supply chain companies to develop innovative technologies, working in collaboration with others and supported by higher tier companies. It is equipping them to win new business with existing companies and to diversify their customer base, including in export markets. It also injects Research and Development capabilities that will contribute to a company’s long-term competitiveness and sustainability. The projects supported by NATEP span the whole product lifecycle from design to manufacturing and to MRO.

The event provided an intellectual forum for those companies working on and interested in NATEP within the aero engine technology sector, enabling them to present their projects to not just industry stakeholders but additionally potential customers.

Chris went along, he found that "the event really demonstrated how successful NATEP has been in bringing innovation to the aerospace industry. The benefits extend beyond the technology to job creation and company growth. Two of the highlights for me were the integration of piezoelectric sensing into aero controls and the temperature indicating paints, check them out if you have a few minutes".

Thank you to the MAA for providing Argenta with the opportunity to attend such a valuable event.
