Intelligent Sensing Event
09 March 2015
Chris Woodhams recommends a visit to the Intelligent Sensing Event, held this year at the Williams F1 conference centre near Oxford and organised by the Knowledge Transfer Network (KTN).
The focus for the event was innovation within the automotive industry. There were several presentations on the use of vision sensors and how the data generated is being used to improve decision making within the sector. With the current research interest into autonomous vehicles, equipment using visual signals is vital both for successful navigation and detecting/avoiding hazards in the path of the vehicle.
For example there are several themes being researched currently at Oxford in the Mobile Robotics group, which include localisation, mapping, calibration and perception.
