The Value of Argenta of Attending Events

In busy periods when delivering multiple projects, it’s sometimes difficult justifying time to attend or present at events, there is always something “more important” to do. Argenta have had this challenge over the last month or so as our workload dictates that we should be focussing on project delivery. At some point those projects will come to an end and we’ll be asking what’s next? This is why we value attending and presenting at events as business development and also professional development opportunities.

This post is a round up of the events we have attended and presented at recently with some recommendations on events to look out for in the future.

InnovateUK 2017

This event was as the title suggests, all about innovation, it is run by InnovateUK and was based at the NEC in Birmingham. The great thing about this event was that not only were there interesting presentations and panel discussions, but there were B2B meetings too. This gives you the opportunity to arrange meetings with potential clients and collaborators prior to the event. Chris met some interesting companies and he hopes to develop collaborations off the back of those meetings.

MAA - Inside UTC Wolverhampton

This event was a chance to get to know UTC in Wolverhampton better, through presentations by different departments, a tour of the facility and meeting the engineers. It was organised by the Midlands Aerospace Alliance (MAA), who did a great job of facilitating some interesting conversations and insights into the business. We are looking forward to building our relationship with UTC at Wolverhampton to expand on our vast experience in the sector.

NI Days

Dawid presented at NI days this year with a talk on our love hate relationship with templates and frameworks. There was a good crowd for his slot and some interesting discussion afterwards. There was a new venue this year and a new format with paid for tickets. Putting together a presentation like this is a great way to reflect on what we have been doing and realising how far we have come.

This is Dawid's presentation in case you missed it.

Autmotive Test and Validation Day

This was a National Instruments event focused on test and validation relating to autonomous vehicles. For us this was a fact finding event, we wanted to understand how our experience with Veristand could be expanded upon within this sector. There were some interesting presentations around the new technology enabling autonomous vehicles and how NI’s toolset enables efficient and cost effective test and validation solutions. The Warwick Manufacturing Group (WMG), where the event was hosted, have an amazing simulator, check out the video here.

We always keep an eye on events in the future, some good resources for this are, MAA Events, The KTN and NI Events. Argenta are also involved in organising a brand new independent graphical programming conference called GDevCon, check out this link for details and to sign up for updates.

If you are attending events that you think we should know about get in touch and we’ll check it out!
